This is a highly responsible position in the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. The employee is expected to perform all duties to the best of their ability, act in a responsible manner at all times, demonstrate leadership qualities, and treat all staff, youth, and persons with respect. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Plans, develops, recommends, and administers the Juvenile Justice Executive Leadership Program (JJELP) within the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).
- Plans, develops and implements the Juvenile Justice Executive Leadership Program (JJELP) within DJJ. Designs, develops and assists with the delivery of the JJELP training. Develops policies and procedures for the JJELP Program. Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports associated with assigned duties.
- Serves as lead contact with Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency (KCCD). Represents the department in meetings pertaining to this organization. Plans and facilitates an exceptional relationship.
- Reviews and analyzes answers and concerns provided by climate surveys to assess employee attitudes, perceptions and experiences within the workplace. Provides executive staff with an audit of all responses and recommendations received.
- Coordinates the DJJ annual KCCD awards ceremony, to include coordinating the departmental awards nominating process, designing and ordering the awards to include coordination of the awards recognition process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of professional experience in any operation or program within the field of corrections, juvenile justice, criminal justice, law enforcement, recreation, academic or vocational education, health services or education, dietary or food management, construction project management, social work, or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in corrections, juvenile justice, criminal justice, law enforcement, recreation, academic or vocational education, health services or education, dietary or food management, construction project management, social work, or related field will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Work is typically performed in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
