It is the mission of the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives to provide information access for the citizens, businesses, and agencies of the Commonwealth. To help the state maintain its competitive edge, the department offers comprehensive services which assure that our clientele has access to information resources: virtual, physical, and human. As one of ten state agencies in the country to combine library, archival, and public records programs, the department is uniquely positioned to meet these needs.
The Department is seeking a Librarian II-KDLA to perform highly specialized professional library functions in cataloging, collection maintanance, patron account maintance, customer service and programming and act as liaison and consultant to National Library Service.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To The Following

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in Library Science.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of professional library experience.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To The Following
- Provide supervision of KTBL (Kentucky Talking Book Library) librarians. Plan, assign, and evaluate the work of the librarians and provide orientation and training of employees. Compile monthly branch statistics and create professional reports. Run branch operations of KTBL in the absense of the manager.
- Perform reader advisory services by telephone, email, and in person. Perform patron account maintenance, updates reading preferences and patron accounts. Add, remove and transfer patron accounts. Perform reference and referral services for people who are blind or have low vision. Request interlibrary loans.
- Catalog new materials using local subject headings based on genre appeal. Update athority records in WebReads. Assign cataloging tasks to librarians. Serve as consultant on National Library Service (NLS) technology, cataloging and WebReads related committees as needed. Serve on agency committees.
- Provide customer support for downloading reading materials from Braille & Audio Reading Download (BARD) service. Act as KTBL consultant and trainer for new digital download services, Duplication on Demand and playback device options from NLS. Provide techs support for eBraille devices. Manage digital newsletter distribution.
- Monitor narrators during recording sessions. Proofread raw recordings and make notations of errors. Format books and magazines to meet guidelines. In conjunction with studio manager assign new titles for recording to librarians to monitor narrators or proofread.
- Supervise and facilitate monthly book club program. Supervise additional library programming developed in collaberation with KTBL librarians. Assist at outreach events as needed. Present at relevant conferences and training sessions.

Salary : $3,496 - $5,244
