The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.
We are seeking applicants for a Mechanical Maintenance & Operations Supervisor to perform maintenance duties on the grounds of the institution. This person determines work assignment to the inmate workers assisting in maintenance responsibilities as well as overseeing and performing other Maintenance Duties.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have five years of experience in the maintenance and/or repair of HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation equipment or electrical systems.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age.
Working Conditions
May be required to take care of emergency repairs twenty-four hours a day.

- Provides supervision, administration and inspections of inmate employees.
- Oversees general Maintenance practices of work performed by inmates.
- Supervises and determines work schedules on various maintenance jobs throughout the facility and grounds.
- Prioritizes and verifies completions of work orders.
- Requisition maintenance tools and supplies and needed.
- Supervises and assists offenders in daily maintenance and repair tasks while maintaining a safe and secure working environment.
- Tracks assignment of tools and parts.
