The Registered Nurse Advanced Practitioner position is responsible for providing a wide range of professional nursing services for the residents of Thomson-Hood Veterans Center.

The Registered Nurse Advanced Practitioner position is responsible for providing a wide range of professional nursing services for the residents of Thomson-Hood Veterans Center.
Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Provides assessment and diagnosis of acute and chronic illnesses. This includes consultation with other healthcare professionals within and outside the facility. Prescribes medications, treatments, medical devices, and issues prescriptions for non-scheduled legend drugs as defined by Kentucky Revised Statutes. Cross-coverage when medical director and colleagues are absent.
- Performs physical and/or psychiatric examinations and preventative health measures within the guidelines and instructions of physician. Performs annual reviews, discharge planning and summaries and psychoactive drug regimen reviews as provided through pharmacy.
- Provides patient and family counseling and education regarding treatments, diagnosis, and end of life issues.
- Serves on medical and nursing committees as appropriate. Attends multidisciplinary team meetings and medical staff meetings.
