The mission of the KY Department of Revenue is to consistently and efficiently administer tax laws and programs to fund public services while providing quality customer service to the taxpayers and tax professionals living and working in Kentucky. The Office of Field Operations (OFO) helps the Department accomplish its mission at a local level through ten taxpayer service centers (TSCs) located throughout the state.
Office of Field Operations has an opening for a Revenue Audit Supervisor for our CAAP Team (Computer Assisted Audit Program). As a Revenue Audit Supervisor you will be responsible for supervising Department of Revenue auditors in all phases of the examination of taxpayer records for the audit purposes. You will supervise audits of various taxes such as sales and use, property, withholding, individual and corporate income taxes to determine the correct liability of the taxpayer. You will conduct pre audit and post audit conferences with the taxpayer to explain the results for the audit. Must be able to explain any changes in the tax laws, regulations and policies to taxpayers as well as the interpretation and application of the tax laws and regulations.
As Revenue Audit Supervisor, it is important that you be able to work well with taxpayers, office staff, and management.
The successful candidate should possess clear communication skills to work with customers in person or over the telephone and in writing, sometimes in confrontational situations.
Additional Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree that includes twenty semester hours or thirty quarter hours in accounting.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of experience in the examination and auditing of Kentucky state tax documents.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Two years of Kentucky Department of Revenue experience in the auditing of excise, corporation, individual income, withholding, sales and use taxes and fifteen semester hours or twenty-three quarter hours of pure accounting courses will substitute for the twenty semester hours or thirty quarter hours pure accounting requirement. Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) will substitute for the required bachelor's degree and pure accounting hours.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Duties are generally performed in an office setting. Requires overnight travel both in and out of state.

- Required to be in compliance with all tax laws.
- Mostly at a desk using a computer and telephone. Some travel for training and education.
