DCBS seeks to fill a Part-Time (works less than 100 hours per month) Social Service Aide I position. With professionalism and integrity, our agency offers services to families to ensure safe, stable homes for the children of the Commonwealth. A Social Service Aide provides professional assistance to social service workers in meeting the needs of our vulnerable families.
The Social Service Aide is expected to perform at the highest quality to ensure services to the vulnerable citizens. This is a demanding position that requires maturity, self-discipline, and ability to work overtime. Career growth is encouraged through training and mentoring.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Must have fifty-four (54) semester hours from a college or university.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience in providing support services and/or transport services to individuals or families or working with the public.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience working with the public will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Working Conditions
Visits clients and/or families at their residence. Work may involve extensive contact with youth who have been abused, have behavior disorders and/or are status offenders. May run risks of hazards associated with frequent use of automobile.

- Transport committed children to and from family visitations, placement locations, and medical appointments. This may include out of state travel.
- Supervise visits between children and birth parents and/or other family members.
- Identify and report potential crisis situations to caseworkers and supervisors.
- Retrieve and/or deliver documents such as court reports, medical records, and forms signed by the birth parents.
- Assist caseworkers with the entry of electronic case data.
- Assist other offices within the region as needed.
- Experience working with families and/or children.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- The ability to work well under pressure.
- A willingness to work as part of a team.
- A valid driver’s license.
