Description
The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC) Sex Offender Treatment Program (SOTP) holds the aspirational goal of No More Victims. The Kentucky DOC SOTP has achieved the pragmatic goal of significantly reducing victims through evidenced-based psychotherapy of convicted sexual offenders. Through grass roots efforts by corrections professionals, victim advocates, and some progressive legislators, the DOC began its early version of Sex Offender treatment in 1986. In the past 36 years, it has grown and evolved into a highly effective, evidenced-based program.
As a member of this triangulation of treatment, probation and parole and the court system your duties are varied and require skill and intense focus.

Responsibilities will include:
- Interviews offenders and explain agency services.
- Performs needs assessments. Develops rehabilitation plan for sex offenders to include special rehabilitative methodologies while maintaining up-to-date, accurate case records.
- Completes required reports.
- Assists psychologists in testing procedures and evaluations.
- Relates and coordinate programs with other corrections programs.
- Compiles statistical data and keeps program director apprised of findings.
- Provides technical assistance to corrections staff and other agencies.
- Serves as resource person for staff training.
- Assists in the formulation of policy recommendations, including preparing of forms, procedures, and educational materials.
- Assists in other projects as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: A master's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, marriage and family therapy or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have one year of professional social work experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree supplemented by three years of professional social work experience will substitute for the primary education and experience requirements.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): If employed by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services or the Department of Juvenile Justice, an employee in this job classification must furnish to the appointing authority within one month of employment, documentation that he/she possesses a valid driver's license.

Working Conditions
Performs job duties in an office/facility setting and visits clients and/or families at their residence. Provides emergency services on 24-hour basis, including accepting referrals and completing investigations at any hour without prior warning. As a result of enforced intervention, the worker runs the risk of physical harm.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
