Description
The mission of the Division of Corrections Training is to design, develop, and deliver training programs that meet the needs and mandates of the employees of the Kentucky Department of Corrections.

The Training Development Specialist II’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, demonstrate a strong desire to learn new methods of communication that cater to diverse learning styles, and possess a high level of digital creativity and design expertise. Proficiency in various software programs, including Microsoft PowerPoint, other Office applications, Articulate, and video/audio editing tools, is also required.

The Training Development Specialist II’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manages multiple design projects simultaneously for in-person, virtual, and/or digital training.
- Researches, designs, develops, and oversees lesson plans that improve the job performance of KY DOC employees.
- Ensures learning objectives are established based on necessary competencies.
- Instructs on various topics as needed.
- Assists in maintaining/managing Department Learning Management Systems.
- Provides and welcomes feedback on issue-specific lessons.
- Travels across the state to meet the needs of the Department.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of professional experience in planning, coordinating, or conducting staff development and training courses, personnel administration or teaching, or professional experience in providing or administering human services or governmental programs.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in psychometrics, industrial relations, psychology, statistics, education, or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in the above areas will substitute for the required education on the basis of one year of experience for two years of education. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting. Occasional travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
