By joining our Equipment Section as a Transporation Auto/Truck Technician I in Adair County, you’ll have the opportunity to perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on all state-owned equipment such as pick-up trucks, dump trucks, backhoes, etc.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of automotive/equipment/truck repair technical experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Vocational or technical school training in automotive/truck repair or a related area will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Employees in this job classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority within six months of employment in the job classification, documentation that he or she possesses a valid Class A commercial driver's license. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possess and maintains required licensure(s), certification (s) or other credentials.

Summary Of Responsibilities
- Change oil and filters on trucks, tractors, loaders, backhoes, etc.
- Perform preventive maintenance on trucks, tractors, loaders, backhoes, etc.
- Change brakes, brake pads, brake shoes, drums and rotors
- Inspect vehicles to detect signs of wear, damage, or needed repairs.
- Assist advanced level mechanic with more complex duties.
- Basic equipment operating experience.
- Knowledge of tools and diagnostic equipment used in automotive repair
