By joining our Russell Springs Section as a Transportation Engineering Assistant I in Russell County, you’ll have the opportunity to perform roadway construction and maintenance project inspection, including sampling and testing of materials used in construction of highways.

Work is performed in the field. Travel may be required. Incumbent will be exposed to risks inherent to working with large equipment and machines involved with road construction which require the following of safety procedures.

- Interpret engineering plans, specifications and documents
- Perform basic calculations for material quantities and cost estimates
- Learn to maintain and operate basic level surveying equipment
- Perform basic quality assurance material sampling and use basic testing equipment
- Document roadway construction and maintenance activities
- Land or construction surveying
- Roadway or bridge construction
- Blueprint or plan reading
- Record keeping
- Perform basic mathematical calculations

Salary : $3,210 - $3,582
