By joining our Traffic and Equipment Management Branch as a Transportation Engineering Assistant II in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to work with our Traffic Counting Equipment Field crew on how to operate our equipment and then assist District personnel throughout the state.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of engineering-related experience, maintenance, construction, or experience on a structures crew.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Related technical or vocational training will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.

Summary Of Responsibilities
- Assist in performing Automatic Data Recorder (ADR) certification, maintenance, and repair.
- Assist in conducting traffic counts, including proper classification and designation of vehicular movement.
- Assist with the collection of Automatic Traffic Recorder (ATR) data.
- Assist in the performance of quality assurance for construction activities including installing cabinets, conduit, junction boxes, inductive loops, and piezoelectric sensors for compliance with plans and specifications.
- Assist in updating databases.
- Assist in programming and testing Automatic Data Recorders.
- Includes troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration and certification of ADRs, including the Pulsar units.
- Also Utilize the ADR with pneumatic tubes to perform counts at locations where needed.
- Working in or around the roadway.
- Working with hand tools.
- Working with basic computer programs and willingness to learn other programs.
