The Bluegrass Challenge Academy is hiring a Youth Challenge Cadre Supervisor position that, at the entry level, responsible for supervising Cadre I and II employees as well as supervision of enrolled youth ages (16-18) during the 22 week residential phase of the Youth ChalleNGe program; and performs other duties as required.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
EDUCATION: High school graduate
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of experience in a youth residential program or military experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with a passenger endorsement or a DOL bus training certification within six (6) months of appointment. Must successfully complete the National Youth ChalleNGe Program Basic and Cadre courses and all other training required within the prescribed time-frame or at least within six months of appointment.
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Typically works in a residential or school based setting. At times may be required to work at off-site locations to facilitate various requirements. May be exposed to hazards and dangers associated with operating a motor vehicle while providing transportation services.

- Supervises, evaluates, and trains cadre assigned to working during incumbents shift;
- Recommends hire and dismissal actions for cadre and subordinate staff;
- Coordinates staff training;
- Performs primary performance and counseling for cadets and records data;
- Supervises all cadet activities for the described shift;
- Follows up on and inspect cadre and cadet chain of command to ensure all planned activities are operating normally;
- Conducts initial cadet discipline and recommends dismissal actions with cadets;
- Conducts primary counseling and cadet/parent conferences for those dealing with issues and claims about going home;
- Calls and coordinates with all cadet centric adults and family;
- Prepares cadet and platoon performance reports as required;
- Monitors all staff activities, uniforms, and cadet interactions to ensure policy and procedures are consistent with national and academy goals;
- A secondary member of the academy management team.
