DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In the role of an Air Quality Engineering Trainee, you will engage in a comprehensive 12-month training program designed to equip you with the skills necessary for the responsibilities of an Air Quality Engineering Specialist. Throughout this position, you will gain valuable experience in reviewing plan approvals and general permit applications, ensuring that new air containment sources meet the necessary requirements. Your assistance will be crucial in recommending changes to permits or issuing denials based on the application's information.
You will have the opportunity to utilize your engineering skills to identify potential polluting problems and address any issues with air quality devices that do not comply with our air pollution control program. As a trainee, you will continuously enhance your technical proficiency over the course of this comprehensive training program. The work products produced are reviewed by the supervisor before being issued or released.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Most selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $64,861.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
- One year of engineering experience, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- A bachelor’s degree in the field of engineering.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position will require possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
