DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you are responsible for supervising inmates and maintaining proper security while ensuring work is performed under safe operating procedures. Duties include reading and interpreting gauges, meters, and sensing devices, as well as cleaning and maintaining equipment. Also, you will provide heat and hot water for institutional needs by maintaining boiler operations, including generation of medium pressure steam.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work Hours: This position has a split shift. Half of the week hours will be 6AM - 2PM, remainder of the week hours will be 2PM - 10PM with rotating days off.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
