DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Custodial Worker 1, you will be involved in routine manual work in public institutional buildings and surrounding grounds. These duties involve the use of custodial supplies and modern cleaning equipment and may involve the moving and lifting of heavy furniture. You will perform general cleaning duties such as mopping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing of walls, baseboards, floors, handrails, elevators, mirrors, interior windows, windowsills, ash trays, air vents, Venetian blinds, curtains, light fixtures, file cabinets, wardrobes, nightstands, water fountains, bathroom fixtures, doors, wheelchairs, Geri chairs, and tray chairs. This work is performed in accordance with a well-established routine and is subject to inspection to meet standards of cleanliness.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment (7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week)
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualification (not required):
- Experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person. (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices, or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing.)
- Work experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital.
- Work experience interacting with patients or residents while cleaning in patient or resident rooms or a dining room setting.
- Work experience cleaning bodily fluids and disposing infectious waste into proper storage areas.
- Work experience removing snow, trash, and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways.
- Work experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents.
- Work experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax, and buff floors.
- Custodial work experience in the following environments: activity or recreation room; bathroom, shower, or bathing room; cafeteria or dining room setting; entranceway, lobby, or common space; nursing station; patient or resident rooms; pharmacy; and physical therapy rooms.

- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
