THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Semi Skilled Laborer, you will perform semi-skilled manual work that includes grass cutting, snow removal, loading materials and equipment, and assisting maintenance staff along with other general building maintenance and groundskeeping duties. You will make building repairs and use common carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and building trades skills. This role requires the ability to complete a variety of construction and maintenance tasks while frequently applying acquired knowledge of hand tools, shop tools, and equipment. In addition, you will act as a helper to skilled trades workers, assist in demolition and removal of debris from job sites, and use work order forms to record used materials and work time.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Limited-term, full-time position, 37.5 hours per week
  • This is a non-permanent position with a timeframe of approximately 1 year.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
