THE POSITION

The Department of Labor & Industry, Bureau of Workers' Compensation is seeking a talented manager to serve as its Workers' Compensation Health & Safety Manager. As the division chief, you will lead the administration of our certified workplace safety committee program, as well as manage the PA Training for Health & Safety (PATHS) initiative. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a management position responsible for the direction and operation of the Health & Safety Division within the Bureau of Workers' Compensation. The division is responsible for the oversight, education, and promotion of the certified workplace safety committee program, including audits, as well as the management and direction of the PATHS initiative, a free and comprehensive statewide service that provides safety training sessions and other resources which can be customized for an employer’s needs to prevent workplace safety incidents. Responsibilities also include all administrative duties relating to the division such as planning, organizing, developing, supervising, coordinating, reporting, and budgeting processes and duties. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time upon successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pennsylvania.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Four (4) years of experience which involved the development, implementation, and maintenance of industrial accident and illness prevention programs; and a bachelors degree in industrial hygiene, industrial safety, or a closely related field; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Graduate training in industrial hygiene, industrial safety, or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis up to a maximum of one (1) year.
