As an Accountant 1, you will be responsible for processing vendor invoices in a timely manner, performing reconciliations, preparing financial reports for various entities (i.e. HUD, auditors), and preparing budget reports. Work includes processing checks (accounts payable, etc.), handling electronic utility invoices, scanning invoices, and securing payment approvals.
Within this role, you will create and process grant invoices, enter journal entries, and process payroll and online banking. It is essential that you maintain accurate files and electronic records.
Other duties to include but not limited to:
- Assisting with ensuring compliance with accounting standards, policies and procedures, HUD requirements, the Fair Housing Act, and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Posting journal entries and monitoring General Ledger balances to verify accuracy.
- Responding to all emails and phone calls in a timely manner.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of professional accounting experience and graduation from a four year college or university, including or supplemented by 15 credits in accounting; or
- One year as a Fiscal Technician and 15 college credits in accounting; or
- Five years of bookkeeping experience; and 15 college credits in accounting.
