What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Assistant position at Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?
As a Commonwealth Accountant Assistant (CAA), you will be tasked with payment processing within the Accounts Receivable/Cost Allocation (ARCA) Unit, responsible for posting Cost Allocation Transfers and Accounts Receivable related payments. Work involves effectively applying customer payments, relieving open receivables, and providing general guidance and routine problem solving for customers. In addition, you will be responsible for posting cost allocations and issuing pre-notifications.
Other duties to include but not limited to:
- Preparing standard letters related to invalid customer payments
- Researching customer records
- Communicating issues or exceptions to the billing agency
- Maintaining accounts receivable payment log
- Assisting customers with the SnapPay Payment Center

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements. Please keep in mind that while this is a full-time telework position, that can change at any time at the Governor's discretion. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Your headquarters is 555 Walnut Street, Harrisburg. You will be required to report to headquarters to pick up your equipment and attend periodic meetings at your expense.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
- An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess one or more years of SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning experience.
- You must possess one or more years of accounts receivable and/or bookkeeping experience.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
