Do you have a passion for helping others?  If so, Lehigh County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is seeking a proficient, hard-working Aging Care Manager 3 with a desire to assist our valued senior residents in leading safe and healthy lives. This position is part of the Protective Services Unit which provides specialized casework services to at risk clients 60 years of age and older under the Older Adults Protective Services Act.  Make a positive impact on the lives of others by joining our dedicated team of professionals!

As an Aging Care Manager 3 with the Protective Services Unit, work will be centered around providing protective services for clients who are in danger of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or abandonment and who are having difficulty maintaining a safe and healthful independent lifestyle.  You will be responsible for promptly investigating referrals in accordance with protective services legislation, rules, regulations, and operating procedures of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.  Investigations entail obtaining a wide-range of assessment information, preparing case histories, and determining eligibility for services.  


Additional duties also involve recommending cases that require court intervention such as guardianships, protective services interventions, and petitions for mental health commitments.  For such cases, you will be tasked with obtaining necessary documentation and preparing for court hearings, court testimony, and additional correspondence with a variety of relevant and involved parties.  Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be interacting with consumers and their family members, as well as other specialized medical, mental health, judiciary, and law enforcement professionals.  

 

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours/week.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • On-call hours are required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Aging Care Manager 2 or Aging Program Assessor; or
  • One and one-half years of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience; and a bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes six months of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lehigh County.  If no eligible candidates who live within Lehigh County apply for this position, candidates who reside in Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Northampton, or Schuylkill counties will be considered.  If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

 

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
