Would you enjoy a profession which allows you to utilize your investigatory experience to provide valuable services within the Commonwealth?  A Labor Law Investigator conducts audits and investigations regarding enforcement of 13 state labor laws to ensure compliance.  If a case cannot be resolved, the investigator initiates prosecution against employers for violations which cannot be corrected through the administrative process.  Labor Law Investigators play a crucial role in the bureau’s success rate of collecting wages on behalf of the customers of the Commonwealth.  Apply today to join the Department of Labor & Industry and embark upon an exciting career path!

As a Labor Law Investigator, you will be responsible for receiving and screening complaints; obtaining documentation and evidence and conducting audits of payroll records, timecards, and related materials; facilitating conferences with claimants and employers when appropriate; and filing prosecutions when necessary.  Excellent communication and documentation skills are essential, as you will be preparing detailed written case narratives and verbal testimony for cases that proceed to legal action.  This professional also educates contractors, organizations, employees, and public officials on the requirements of the laws and on recent legal decisions affecting the application of such laws.
