The Civil Rights Outreach Coordinator (Human Relations Representative 2) (CROC) serves as a "Beloved Community Peacemaker" for communities facing conflict based on actual or perceived race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or disability. CROCS help meet our agency's crucial mission by providing facilitated dialogue, mediation, training, and consultation to assist communities in coming together to develop community and evidence-based solutions to the presenting conflict, while enhancing the community’s capacity to independently prevent and resolve future conflicts. It is critical to have knowledge of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as you will provide training and consultation to public officials and community representatives, which create skills and mechanisms necessary to prevent and resolve future tensions.

We need a creative thinker who can be proactive in guiding conversations and programs that promote equity and avoid discriminatory practices. You will develop and implement outreach plans for each location assigned to you, targeting all jurisdictional communities in conjunction with the PHRC Advisory Councils and the PHRC Social Justice Ambassadors Program. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 1 day per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philadelphia. 
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Human Relations Representative 1 (commonwealth title); or
  • Two years of professional administrative investigative, criminal investigative, regulatory investigative, or civil or human rights experience involving gathering evidence, interviewing, and reporting investigative findings; and a bachelor’s degree that includes 12 credits in human resources, labor management relations, civil rights, social work, social justice, public policy, public administration, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience, that includes 12 college credits in human resources, labor management relations, civil rights, social work, social justice, public policy, public administration, or a related field.
