DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will oversee inmate work crews in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a boiler plant that generates medium pressure steam for heat and hot water. You will lead the efficient operation of two 800 HP Cleaver Brooks Boilers; maintain auxiliary pumps, fans, and control equipment; and test water chemistry and water softening systems. This role requires the ability to analyze problems, provide appropriate resolutions, and recommend efficiency improvements. In addition, you will plan assignments, monitor inmates using attendance logs, conduct contraband searches, and adhere to safety and control protocols at all times. It is important that you establish and maintain effective working relationships that enable staff and inmates to apply standard principles and best practices of boiler plant operation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours to be determined. DOC is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Salary : Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,986.00 (before taxes).
