The Caseworker 1, under the direct supervision of the Casework Supervisor attends and participates in training to implement the services as a county mental health delegate. Incumbent will assist clients (families/children/adolescents) who are in need of mental health services which will assist them in attaining a satisfactory social, economic, emotional, and/or physical adjustment and outcome.  Incumbent will utilize basic knowledge relative to the Office of Behavioral Health and the PA Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse (OMHSAS), for the purpose of providing services for consumers/clients within the applicable laws (state and local), methods, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations governing the operation of DHS – Office of Behavioral Health.  Incumbent works with state and local authorities, providers, agencies, and community partners to assist in providing a satisfactory outcome for clients/consumers and families. 
 

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours/week
  • Sunday through Saturday on a rotating 5 week schedule. Must be available for all shifts. 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM ; 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM ; 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM. 
  • Telework:  You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Rotating shifts based off a 5 week schedule (25 working days). Out of the 25 days, 9 will be in office, 16 will be remote. The county pays for the installation of and ongoing internet service. The employee will not be responsible for internet service for remote work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.


Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
