DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Custodial Services Manager at Wernersville State Hospital, you will lead a dedicated team of 27 employees, providing the highest standards of cleanliness across the facility. Your oversight will include all significant buildings, including 10 patient ward areas, as well as the management of the laundry distribution unit and the patients’ clothing room.

You will play a vital role in creating and maintaining a therapeutically sanitary environment throughout the hospital. By assessing the cleanliness needs of various areas and strategically assigning staff to specific tasks, you will guarantee that we consistently meet and exceed the cleanliness and sanitation standards established by accrediting organizations and hospital administration. In addition, you will conduct quarterly training sessions for housekeeping staff, equipping them with advanced cleaning techniques and optimizing the use of available manpower and materials. This proactive approach will significantly enhance the quality and efficiency of our cleaning operations. You will also coordinate housekeeping staff to assist in relocating furniture and equipment within the hospital, ensuring that all items are positioned to fully support the needs of our hospital programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is subject to emergency call-in. You may be required to work overtime or change your work hours based on operational need.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Custodial Work Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience performing custodial work, including one year in a supervisory capacity.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
