As an Environmental Specialist, DMVA, you will ensure that DMVA properties and activities adhere to pertinent laws, policies, and regulations. Your duties will include working closely with National Guard units and Readiness Centers, engineers, project managers, and maintenance personnel. Your work tasks will include ensuring that DMVA and the PA National Guard remain in compliance with environmental requirements such as the Clean Water Act and National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA). You can expect to prepare Environmental Condition of Property (ECP) and NEPA-required documentation, visit facilities to assess compliance, and conduct hazardous materials evaluations. In this position, you will research historical information and review a variety of plans, blueprints, and maps to determine environmental impact and conformance with applicable environmental laws, policies, rules and regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, with half your time spent in the office per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Annville.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of professional environmental protection program experience and a bachelor’s degree, which includes 24 credits in the physical, biological, or environmental sciences; or
• An equivalent combination of professional experience and training, which includes 24 college credits in the physical, biological, or environmental sciences.

Post Employment Requirement: 

• This position may be required to obtain valid certification in 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations, Procedures and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training within six months of hire and successfully complete 8-hour annual HAZWOPER refresher training thereafter.

Other Requirements:

• You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Salary : $58,035 - $88,235
