As a Forest Maintenance Worker in the Elk Forest District, you will assist with forest maintenance, fire management, and recreation tasks. Your main tasks will include cleaning, maintaining, painting, and repairing the forest facilities. You will operate and maintain the necessary tools and equipment, ensuring safety checks and inspections are completed before use. Additionally, you will handle road maintenance, using designated equipment and tools to ensure smooth, well-drained road surfaces and safe right-of-ways. Your efforts will contribute to the effective maintenance and appearance of the park.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch; 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Friday, with a 30-minute lunch; Monday off
  • This position may require travel and overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
