DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a General Accounting Intern, you have the opportunity to assist with accounting and grant related tasks performed by the Education, Recreation, and Cultural Development Unit. Within this role, you will gain hands-on experience by assisting with reviewing and posting journal entries submitted by agencies, reviewing and approving encumbrances for federal funds, and maintaining grant master data in SAP. You will also participate in the preparation of bank reconciliations and complete reconciliations of data between the Commonwealth accounting system and federal grant draw systems. You may have the opportunity to complete additional general accounting duties as your schedule allows. Upon successful completion of Commonwealth Public Service Internship program requirements you may be promoted to a full-time Executive Financial Associate position .

Work Schedule and Additional Information :
- This internship is expected to last 975 hours.
- Work hours are 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework : You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, with occasional in-office days when work dictates such requirements. Please keep in mind that while this is a full-time telework position, that can change at any time at the Governor's discretion. You will be required to report to headquarters to pick up your equipment and attend periodic meetings at your expense. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
