Are you a skilled Lifeguard? We have an exciting opportunity for you! In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring public safety by overseeing and participating in the activities of lifeguards who patrol, observe, and monitor the swimming area at Fuller Beach in Pine Grove Furnace State Park. Your duties will include directing and supervising lifeguards to maintain a safe environment for all beachgoers. You will play a crucial part in ensuring that everyone enjoys their time at the beach while adhering to safety protocols. In this role, you will oversee and engage in activities related to the rescue of swimmers in distress. Your responsibilities will include supervising lifeguards to ensure they fulfill their duties effectively, both while on post and off. You will monitor the attentiveness of lifeguards stationed at the swimming area to guarantee public safety. Additionally, you will be tasked with planning, organizing, and assigning work to the lifeguard team. You will also be responsible for preparing performance evaluations for employees and assessing the training requirements of your subordinates, facilitating further education and training as necessary. Furthermore, you will demonstrate appropriate techniques and methods, as well as conduct meetings with staff to communicate any changes to rules, regulations, policies, and standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time seasonal employment. The season runs from May 2025 through September 2025. 
  • Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. Shift hours and days vary due to operational need.
  • Weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week 
  • This position may require travel and overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two seasons of experience as a Lifeguard (commonwealth title); or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. 

 

Special Requirements: 
  • All employees must obtain a valid Lifeguard Certification or Lifeguard Management Certification issued by the American Red Cross, YMCA, United States Lifesaving Association, or other authority recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health within 14 days of employment. 
  • All employees must obtain valid certifications in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR within 14 days of employment. 

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: 

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    1. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
  • In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks around the time of hire and thereafter every 5 years.
