Job Description
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Corrections is seeking devoted and passionate PRN Registered Nurses. As a Corrections' PRN Nurse, you will work as part of a dedicated team where collaboration and communication are integral. You will perform as a charge nurse, staff nurse, or an assessment coordinator providing nursing care and treatment services within a commonwealth facility.
Work Schedule
You will work on a per diem intermittent basis in a State Correctional Institution. The hours of work vary, including 1st shift (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM). One weekend per month, one major holiday, and one minor holiday per year are also required. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Requirements
This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one-year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Other requirements include successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA, and ability to perform essential job functions. A background investigation and meeting Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements are also necessary.
