Senior Center Operator 1 (LG) (Part-time) - Lehigh Co Area Agency on Aging

As a part-time Senior Center Operator 1, you will conduct public contact work within the framework of the Neighborhood Senior Center Program.  This position operates as a floater position whereby the employee will be assisting with daily operations, marketing and recruitment, and planning of activities for all centers.  This position also substitutes when a center requires staff coverage.  Work involves direct management of the senior center; monitoring of food service; establishing contacts within the community to enhance the personal knowledge of the physical, cultural, and social environment of each participant; and establishing a positive rapport with center participants.

An employee in this class participates in an on-the-job training program designed to develop the skills and abilities necessary for handling food and participating in public contact work.  In addition, this professional must have a working knowledge of the available agency and community resources.  Our ideal candidate will possess the ability to work with Microsoft software to create fliers, calendars, spreadsheets, and more for advertising and organizational purposes.  

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Part-time employment
• Work hours are 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lehigh County.  If no eligible candidates who live within Lehigh County apply for this position, candidates who reside in Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Northampton, or Schuylkill counties will be considered.  If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
