In this position, you will conduct independent inspections of construction and bridge projects to ensure compliance, identifying any issues or concerns that arise. You will also engage in various technical responsibilities related to the inspection of materials and workmanship on highway construction projects within Engineering District 1-0, confirming that all work aligns with the established construction codes, plans, standards, and specifications. Your daily responsibilities will include monitoring transportation projects to ensure adherence to relevant regulations, policies, and procedures efficiently and cost-effectively. Furthermore, you will support project material evaluations at construction sites and district offices, ensuring compliance with source approvals, certification requirements, and testing protocols, while also verifying that vendors implement quality control plans and maintain appropriate documentation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, adhoc during the Winter Season. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or
  • Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or
  • Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
  • Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
  • One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirement: 

  • This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
