About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a wage Intelligence Analyst Senior in our Homeland Security Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing analytical recommendations to sworn investigators, prosecutors, and other partners regarding unsolved violent crimes and cold cases; conduct analysis of and is responsible for the research, production, and dissemination of criminal intelligence and investigative information related to unsolved violent crimes and cold case investigations; work with law enforcement and personnel at the federal, state, and private labs to conduct a review of all forensic testing completed on supported cases; assist with developing recommendations for new evidence testing in coordination with the case agent and lab personnel; coordinate obtaining all relevant Certificates of Analysis to complete the case files and provide to the private lab; conduct a requisite level of analytic and investigative support for ongoing criminal investigations relating to homicide, missing person, unidentified remains, and violent sex offense cases throughout the Commonwealth; respond to requests for analytic support in a timely and efficient manner; and aid with these and other special projects/investigations in the Unsolved Violent Crimes and Cold Cases Analytical Support Team (UVCCCAST) of the Virginia Fusion Center.

Minimum Qualifications

•Working knowledge of organization management, operation principles, research and analysis techniques and methodologies, data collection, statistical analysis, interpretation, and sampling methods and techniques.
•Skill in operating computers and using computer programs and database applications, to include Microsoft Office applications.
•Demonstrated ability to research, compile, analyze, and apply appropriate analytical and evaluative techniques to make recommendations on cases involving unsolved violent crimes and cold cases; to review and assist with complex criminal investigations and provide fact based analytical judgments and recommendations; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to read, explain, and apply policies, procedures, and regulations; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and managers.
•Experience in business or criminal justice related field.
•Experience working in an investigative or analytical capacity.
•Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.
•Ability to obtain a federal security clearance.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Additional Considerations

•Criminal analytical training is preferred.
•Public safety experience or other broad scope governmental experience preferred.
•Analytical or investigative experience working unsolved/cold cases is preferred.
