Job Duties
The Science Museum of Virginia is looking for energetic, friendly, and dynamic individuals to join our team as part-time Summer Guest Services Associates from May through Labor Day! In this role, you’ll be the face of the museum, delivering enthusiastic and efficient service to guests by answering questions about exhibits and special attractions, offering directions, and proactively addressing any guest needs – both in person and over the phone.
You’ll also have the exciting opportunity to sell tickets and memberships using our Ticketure system, while learning about the museum’s exhibits, attractions, and pricing to drive sales and enhance the guest experience. As a Guest Services Associate, you'll build personal relationships with museum guests and members, encouraging repeat visits and making their time at the museum truly memorable. You’ll work closely with both volunteer and paid gallery staff to create a welcoming and engaging environment, and collaborate with education staff to ensure seamless traffic flow for a positive experience for all.

Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have relevant work experience in a similar role and be proficient with GSuite applications. Previous experience in cash handling is required. The ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously is essential, along with superb verbal and written communication skills. The candidate must be able to work effectively with individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds in a fast-paced educational environment. We seek someone who is reliable, honest, and demonstrates professionalism at all times. The candidate should be a self-starter, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, while also possessing strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Outstanding interpersonal skills are critical, as well as the ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Sufficient visual and auditory capabilities are needed to engage with the public and perform detailed work. Finally, the candidate should be comfortable presenting information in both one-on-one and group settings, delivering it in an engaging, compelling, and energetic manner to audiences of varying ages. Must be available to regularly work evenings, weekends and holidays.
