About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Specialist under the direction of the Bureau of Field Operations, Youth of Virginia Speak Out About Traffic Safety (YOVASO) program at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will develop and execute marketing strategies, social media content, and educational events that advance the statewide mission of the Department’s YOVASO program; manage the YOVASO Website; create and schedule dynamic social media content; create public service announcements and video advertisements in conjunction with Virginia media; write media releases; design graphics for print materials and branded items; coordinate all marketing and communication strategies; direct the annual four-day, three-night YOVASO Summer Leadership Retreat; and plan and execute other educational events, activities, and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
•Knowledge of social media management tools, such as Sprout Social; and of analytics tracking and proficiency in social media content creation.
•Knowledge of website content management systems, such as WordPress.
•Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office application and graphic design applications.
•Demonstrated to create and manage dynamic website content; to create graphic content in Photoshop and Canva; to develop marketing strategies; to plan and execute conferences and events from conception to completion; to communicate orally and in writing in English; and to write media releases, set and meet deadlines, and to travel statewide.
•Experience in social media management and event planning.
•Experience working with youth-related advocacy programs in an educational or program development role.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Additional Considerations
•Preferred experience and knowledge in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
