The Internship Opportunity: Communications
The Port of Virginia – Virginia International Terminals is seeking a Communications Intern that will focus on social media management. Key responsibilities include creating content, such as writing posts, designing visuals, and scheduling posts using tools like Canva, Photoshop, and SproutSocial.
The Port of Virginia's 8-Week Summer Internship Program runs from June 2, 2025 - July 25, 2025, and is designed to develop, teach, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students as they explore career opportunities within the maritime industry. Students will have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to hands on, project-focused tasks in various departments throughout The Port of Virginia.
What You’ll Do: Outcomes & Experience
- Monitor social media accounts and track mentions.
- Research trending topics and assist with social media analytics by analyzing post performance and preparing reports.
- Support the management of the social media calendar to ensure posts align with upcoming events and promotions.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and tools in social media management and design.
- Develop skills in researching and identifying current trends and viral content.
- Gain proficiency in social media analytics tools.
- Learn how to manage a social media calendar.
- Develop an understanding of how to utilize social media trends and tools.
- Learn to work effectively with a team.
- Enhance ability to organize tasks, prioritize deadlines, and manage social media accounts efficiently.
Who You Are: Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled and in an accredited program or graduate program (having completed freshman / first year) during the time of the program.
- Must be available to work full time (40 hours per week) from June 2, 2025 to July 25, 2025.
