The Opportunity: Inventory Control Assistant
The main objective of this position is to manage the spare parts inventory that supports the Maintenance and Operations departments. This includes receiving, putting away, picking, and delivering parts. This position will also ensure inventory levels are accurate and that spare parts are stored and handled properly. The ideal candidate is comfortable driving a forklift, driving a truck, working in a warehouse environment and using computers to enter data.
What You’ll Do: Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with all security, safety and environmental regulations and policies within work area at all times. This includes properly addressing issues through action or reporting issues and concerns to Manager
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming shipments and deliveries
- Applies knowledge of inventory system to complete basic tasks such as receiving, storing, picking, issuing, and cycle counting inventory items
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and contacts shipper to rectify damages and shortages
- Puts away parts to designated location; picks parts and prepare for delivery
- Issues parts to Maintenance and other departments using inventory system
- Drives delivery vehicle to transport parts to terminal locations throughout Hampton Roads, including the loading and unloading of parts and materials
- Records and monitors all items with shelf-life daily and notify appropriate personnel when material has expired
- Prepares monthly reports for cycle count and pick-lists count for monthly highlights
- Provides customers with timely updates on the status of their orders, including backorders, delays, or fulfillment issues
- Works with other departments to ensure inventory needs are met
- Other duties as assigned
Who You Are: Qualifications
Three or more years of relevant experience, including inventory control, shipping/receiving, and warehousing. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, forklift operation, and deliver truck experience with medium to high proficiency is required.
