What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Program Assistant position at Commonwealth Senior Living at Kilmarnock?
The Wellness Program Assistant, known as our Resident Program Assistant supports the Program Director in leading and executing all Resident Programs in “Sweet Memories” and Assisted Living to ensure the residents remain as engaged, healthy and as active as possible.
Supports the Resident Care team to create a safe, holistic, engaged and social environment.
The Program Assistant carries out a specific set of tasks to fulfill the standards of Resident Programs as assigned by the Program Director.
Position : Full-time role, Monday - Friday and every other weekend.
Qualifications
- Education or training in wellness, senior living, or healthcare is preferred, along with certification as a wellness, exercise, or activity professional from a recognized accrediting organization, preferred.
- Two years’ experience in activity planning for seniors preferred
- Experience working with seniors and those with memory loss strongly preferred.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of social and psychological needs of residents.
- Ability to work without close supervision and to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to prioritize, utilize good time management and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’ license, with no major violations within 3 years
- Must, have a working knowledge of and be able to utilize technology effectively.

Physical / Sensory Requirements
This position requires a variety of physical demands, including the potential for lifting greater than 50 lbs.
Long stretches on one’s feet, walking around is to be expected.
The Activity Assistant position requires long stretches on one’s feet and long stretches requiring the person to drive the community van.
