CoMMotion is seeking a part-time dance instructor who wants to be a part of a studio where the curriculum focuses on character development and leadership alongside technique and skill.
The ideal candidate will have a strong dance background and significant experience working with students of all levels, including those with cognitive and physical disabilities and other special needs. The candidate will have the ability to create and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of each student in the classroom while maintaining a safe, positive, and encouraging environment. Being creative, patient, and caring is essential in this position. Every student with a desire and dream of performing will have opportunities to perform throughout the year. Our instructors guide our students to have a productive and meaningful experience at CoMMotion.
As part of the interview process, candidates will be asked to provide examples of their interactions with a diverse student population, including those with special needs. Candidates will also be asked for a portfolio of past choreography and may be invited to teach as a guest instructor.
Other Responsibilities:
- Work as an effective team member
- Substitute teach for other classes
- Attend staff meetings
- Open communication with Management team and fellow faculty
- Provide leadership and actively support the integrity of the studio.
- Set and remain accountable to personal goals
- You will need to be an effective mentor and coach
- Student evaluations
- Communicate with parents as needed
Qualifications:
- Must have a background in professional dance training
- Must have teaching experience
- BA/ BFA or AA preferred
- Be coachable and eager to learn new skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willing to be cross-trained
- Reliable
