What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field service technician position at Commtech Services Inc?
This position contributes to the success of the company by dis-assembly, inspection, assembly, troubleshooting, testing and repair of paper cutting & paper handling machines to find and correct any operational defects.
Essential Job Functions :
- Build, troubleshoot, repair and assemble reconditioned and certified paper cutting and paper handling machines to engineering specifications.
- Work on all types of paper cutting and paper handling equipment to include assembly, test ing and troubleshoot ing .
- Effectively interact with engineers and all shop personnel to help determine if an assembly change is needed to achieve optimum machine performance.
Requirements :
- Ability to read machine drawings / documentation to assemble machines.
- Ability to use basic hand tools
- Ability to use basic power tools
- Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting using a multimeter while reading schematics.
- Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
- Ability to work independently
- Adherence to all safety guidelines as outlined in the safety manual
Other Skills / Abilities which will ensure success :
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Machine shop knowledge a plus ( manual mills / lathes )
- Experience rebuilding gearboxes, air blowers and motors a plus .
Physical requirements of position :
- Capable of lifting 40 50 pounds, occasionally
- Capable of prolonged standing
