PURPOSE/BELIEF STATEMENT
CommuniCare Health Services is a fast-growing provider of long-term care with over 100 facilities located in 6 states. Due to continued growth, we are looking to fill the key position of Senior Director of Payroll Services.
The Senior Director of Payroll Services will oversee both the Payroll practices/procedures and serve as the lead person in resolving, developing, improving all payroll and timekeeping related issues. The role will manage and direct a team of payroll professionals with primary responsibilities of ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state and local wage and hour laws, including collective bargaining agreements. The position of Sr. Director of Payroll is based at our Blue Ash, Ohio (Cincinnati suburb) office. We may be open to a limited hybrid work schedule for the right candidate.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide proactive leadership to a team of payroll professionals in maintaining and improving payroll practices and related information management.
- Provide cross-functional leadership with Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Operations, and other departments in meeting payroll processing, timekeeping and reporting objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and provincial wage and hour laws, as well as collective bargaining agreements.
- Maintain open communications regarding payroll processing developments affecting employees.
- Maintain relationships with payroll service providers (for example, Workday, Kronos, consultants) in driving best practices in payroll processing and reporting.
- Maintain high level understanding of best-in-class operations through benchmarking, user conferences with service providers, and continuing education.
- Maintain appropriate relationships with internal and external auditors and facilitate assistance as required.
- Identify and improve performance variances (for example, timely payroll runs, hours not entered, hours missing, time not approved, retroactive adjustments, errors, discrepancies).
- Ensure consistent compliance with all required accounting controls and polices.
- Lead the resolution of payroll, benefit payments, and payroll tax related issues.
- Responsible for all year-end tax reporting related to payroll.
- Identify and implement process improvements for accuracy and efficiency of payroll operations.
- Oversee the development of production and ad-hoc reporting tools and solutions to ensure appropriate payroll information is available to our employees and managers in a timely and efficient manner.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 8-10 years of end-to-end payroll processing in a high growth environment
- Experience being an effective leader with management and coaching skills
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven and works well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent planning, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexible, able to perform and deliver excellent results under high pressure
- Organized, efficient with the ability to handle multiple tasks and resolve issues effectively
- Experience with Workday/UKG and in healthcare preferred, not required
