Operates ultrasound equipment in order to produce high quality diagnostic images for obstetrics and gynecology procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Uses ultrasound equipment under the direction of a physician to locate, evaluate and record pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data to aid the physician in the diagnosis of disease of injury, adjusting the transducer angulation and gain settings to best reveal the anatomy being studied.
2. Makes proper and legible notations on patient records, of the diagnostic sonographic scan and makes a permanent record, when appropriate, of significant functional, anatomical and pathological data for interpretation by physician.
3. Provides excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, email, fax or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their health care needs.
4. Receives and interviews patients referred, reviewing patient's history and available clinical data pertinent to procedure, following physician’s orders.
5. Notifies supervising physician immediately of any abnormalities or concerns.
6. Identifies all patient images and/or using the two patient identifiers, radiographs entering all patient information correctly and accordingly into the Radiology Information System (RIS) to correctly reflect all procedures performed in the patient’s account.
7. Appropriately adapts assigned patient assessment, treatment and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific and other developmental needs of each patient served.
8. Places patient into proper position for procedure that will facilitate optimum diagnostic results and adjusts and operates ultrasound equipment to obtain tracing of prescribed body area for diagnostic purposes.
9. Maintains adequate supplies and materials for operation of equipment. Taking care of equipment; performs minor maintenance and adjustments on equipment and maintains the area and equipment clean and in order.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a current unrestricted certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
Minimum of an Associates Degree or higher required
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
Meticulous attention to detail in performance of diagnostic procedures, calibrations, measurements, and calculations
Minimum of one year in the performance of Echocardiographs and Doppler Ultrasound
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association
Ability to travel to various clinic sites

REQUIRED PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects. Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.
Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.
Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information; hear whispered voice at five (5) feet.
Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Visual: Visual acuity necessary for the proper evaluation of a patient and to prepare or inspect documents or other materials. Ability to accurately view computer monitors
Physical: Sitting 20-30% of time and standing, walking 70-80% of time. Lift up to 25 lbs; push and pull up to 45 lbs. Able to bend at the waist, twist and turn along axial plane.
