JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW: Senior Accountant responsible for enhancing accounting procedures, internal controls, and operational efficiency. Prepares and analyzes financial statements, performs month-end close procedures, and conducts complex reconciliations. Collaborates across departments to ensure accurate financial reporting, assists with audits, and researches technical accounting issues as needed. Contributes to budgeting, forecasting, and special projects.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (add or delete if necessary)
Support in improving the organization's existing accounting procedures and internal controls and seek opportunities to improve accounting operational efficiency and effectiveness
Support in the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
Analyze and resolve complex financial issues
Perform month-end close procedures, including reviewing and verifying account balances, preparing journal entries, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data
Perform expense reconciliations, including reviewing and verifying invoices, ensuring proper coding and allocation of expenses, and identifying any unusual or unexpected variances
Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows, to ensure accuracy and completeness
Document and maintain a clear audit trail of all reconciliations, adjustments, and journal entries made during the month-end close process
Collaborate with other teams, such as grants management, payroll, billing, and operations, to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information
Assists in preparation for various audits
Perform ad-hoc projects, analyses and duties as required
Research technical accounting guidance and document conclusions as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
