Communication Technology Services (CTS) is one of the largest integrators and managed service providers for enterprise cellular networks in the U.S., specializing in the design, installation and support of Distributed Antenna System (DAS), Small Cell, and 4G/5G Private Wireless Networks for Enterprise. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CAD Designer specializing in preparing construction drawing packages for submission to local jurisdictions for permitting approval. This position is based ONSITE at our Design Center in Phoenix, AZ.
The CAD RF Designer will be responsible for designing and drafting RF (Radio Frequency) systems for construction projects, including developing site plans, elevation views, equipment layouts, antenna placements, conduit routing, and detailed callouts. This position requires adherence to jurisdiction-specific requirements and industry standards, ensuring all documentation is precise, code-compliant, and permit-ready.
Key responsibilities include:
- Generating, updating, and maintaining CAD/BIM (Revit) drawings and related documentation for permitting submissions.
- Preparing one-line diagrams, schematics, and other technical drawings required for permit approval.
- Collaborating with engineering, architectural, and permitting teams to ensure drawings meet project specifications and regulatory standards.
- Utilizing advanced CAD tools to bridge processes across multiple communication technologies.
- Coordinating revisions based on jurisdictional feedback and resubmitting updated plans for approval.
CAD and BIM Design:
- Draft detailed construction drawings, design drawings, and other CAD/BIM (Revit) or manually generated drawings used in planning and constructing communication projects.
- Create CAD layouts for RF systems, components, and schematics.
- Developing general site plans.
- Creating elevation views.
- Designing equipment layouts.
- Planning antenna placements.
- Routing conduits.
- Drafting detailed callouts.
- Work with specifications received from supervisors to prepare accurate and detailed construction documents and RF system designs.
- Generate and integrate plots, maps, and charts to bridge elements of construction documents and RF designs are integrated seamlessly.
RF Schematic Design:
- Design and model various Block Diagrams, components, and systems in compliance with performance and project specifications.
- Work closely with RF engineers to validate designs through layout and OEM specification sheets.
Collaboration and Mentorship:
- Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and other design professionals involved in the project documentation process.
- Mentor and train other CAD technical staff on best practices, CAD standards, and design methods.
- Assist with troubleshooting and optimization of both RF designs and architectural elements during the project lifecycle.
Documentation and Quality Control:
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, schematics, and technical reports for all designs/projects.
- Review and refine processes to ensure alignment with established quality standards and project specifications.
- Work with management to develop procedures and policies for quality control, ensuring all work product meets regulatory standards and client requirements.
Technology and Software Use:
- Operate CAD and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Photoshop) and other graphic programs to develop and communicate design details effectively.
- Assist in creating "Construction Ready" project outputs via software like iBwave and Atoll designs utilizing AIA (American Institute of Architects) or NCS (National CAD Standard) standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education:
- Minimum high school diploma/GED, with an associates degree in technical drafting or a professional university degree in architecture or electrical engineering.
- 5 years of experience in CAD design, RF system design, or a related field.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in AutoCAD (current version), Revit (current version), and Photoshop (Design Suite - current version).
- Strong understanding of RF concepts, including logarithmic math.
- Experience with interpreting and adhering to jurisdictional codes and regulations for accurate and compliant permit submissions.
- Familiarity with Google G-Suite

Commensurate based upon experience: $30-$35hr
