Seeking a skilled COBOL Programmer with at least 5 yrs of experience to join our Rating and Billing development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, documenting, and maintaining applications that support our business operations. Your proficiency in COBOL programming and your capacity to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality software solutions that meet our organization's needs. Must perform duties with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with PMOs, DBAs and other team members of the R & B group to understand application requirements and translate them into functional COBOL code.
- Design and implement software modules, programs, and scripts in COBOL to support various business processes and applications.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices.
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging of COBOL programs to ensure accurate functionality and identify and resolve any defects.
- Maintain and enhance existing COBOL-based systems by analyzing customer feedback and implementing necessary updates and improvements.
- Document code, processes, and technical specifications to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the applications.
- Collaborate with other developers and team members to integrate COBOL components with other programming languages, technologies, and platforms.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
- Associate degree in computer science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years’ experience as a COBOL programming.
- Proven experience as a COBOL programmer, with a solid understanding of COBOL language features and syntax.
- Experience with the DB2, SQL, TortoiseSVN, MS Office
- Strong Communication Skills, Detail Oriented, Creative, Problem-Solving Skills and Time Management Skills
- Detail-oriented approach to programming, with a focus on delivering accurate and reliable solutions.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Curious and have an open mind towards learning new skills and languages.
- Experience in the Telecom/OSS/BSS industry preferred.
- Prior experience with using a Veryant IDE and knowledge of a backend development language preferably Java.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL
- Knowledge of Bitbucket
- Knowledge/Interest in cloud technologies with AWS.
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
