A DC-based public relations firm specializing in public opinion research, focus groups, and strategic communications is seeking a skilled Video Editor to join our team. This role is critical in producing high-quality video content for client projects and research initiatives.
About the Role
As a Video Editor, you will primarily focus on post-production, synthesizing video, audio, and graphic elements into engaging, impactful content. While the core of this role is editing, candidates should be comfortable handling cameras, microphones, and production equipment on a frequent basis. This role requires attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Willingness to travel within the U.S. is required, with occasional opportunities for international assignments.
Our primary research methodology is focus groups, in which we use specialized technology to capture customer perceptions on a variety of topics. The management, care, and usage of this technology will also be a primary responsibility of the Video Editor and will be taught on-the-job with no expectation of previous knowledge.
We are hiring for a full-time position that is primarily in-office five days a week, with a limited number of remote workdays allowed per month. We are also open to part-time arrangements for the right candidate. Travel is only required for full-time candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Post-Production Excellence: Edit video content to create compelling narratives that support research and communication goals.
- Footage Organization: Ingest, label, and manage large volumes of incoming media assets.
- Audio & Visual Enhancement: Improve footage quality using Adobe Premiere Pro and other Creative Cloud tools.
- Technology Management: Adapt to and master specialized research hardware and software for effective use in focus groups, with hands-on learning and application.
- Content Creation: Develop summary videos, promotional materials, and other video content for clients and internal use.
- Basic Production Support: Operate DSLR cameras, microphones, and lighting equipment.
- Video Trend Analysis: Research and analyze online video content trends.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro with a strong grasp of post-production workflows.
- Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc.).
- Experience operating DSLR cameras and professional microphones, with an understanding of focus, exposure, and audio settings.
- MacOS native or strong familiarity with MacOS and Apple computers.
- Curious about audiovisual technology and capable of researching and solving technical challenges independently.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate within a fast-paced, close-knit team.
- Willingness to travel within the US and internationally.
- A genuine interest in communications, public relations, and media production.
Bonus Skills (Preferred, Not Required)
- Experience with motion graphics and animation using Adobe AfterEffects
- Graphic design experience using Adobe Illustrator.
- Formal education in video, communication, or journalism is preferred but not a requirement.\
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting Salary: $55,000 - $65-000 (based on experience)
