Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the warehouse. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and hygienic working environment for employees and visitors.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing work areas.
- Collect product trash – including boxes, tape, packaging, and collateral – from the product aisles.
- Conduct thorough checks of all corrugated trash to prevent accidental disposal of product/equipment.
- Manage the cardboard baler, including wire replacement, and maintain cleanliness in its vicinity
- Use floor scrubber as necessary.
- Empty waste receptacles and operate the trash compactor.
- Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Ensure familiarity with the whereabouts of Material Safety Data (MSD) books and maintain a practical understanding of the MSD data.
- Responsible for following warehouse safety regulations.
- All other duties assigned, based on the business the warehouse supports.
Required Skills and Experience
- Understanding of both general and specific principles of housekeeping procedures and materials.
- Effective communication skills required to comprehend and execute work orders.
- Able to work efficiently in busy environments with frequent interaction with the public.
- Capacity to demonstrate reliability, adaptability, and dependability.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- General knowledge of OSHA Standards.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working in a high-volume distribution, manufacturing, technical service (i.e. testing and repair) or forward logistics operation a plus.
- Previous experience with trash compactors and cardboard balers.
- Prior custodial experience.
- Basic computer knowledge.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Warehouse environment.
- The ability to lift, push and/or pull up to 50 lbs., if necessary.
- The ability to stand and walk for an extended period of time, if necessary.
- The ability to bend, push, pull, twist, and reach in a continuous/repetitive capacity, if necessary.
