Materials Supervisor

The materials supervisor position is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Specifically, the responsibilities of this position include:

• Supervise production and technical activity of production lines.
• Monitor departmental performance metrics to ensure production requirements are met.
• Provide first level of support for any escalated issue during work shift.
• Train, motivate, and support staff in all areas of company and departmental procedures and expectations.
• Coach and council employees on performance deficiencies and document as required as well provide positive reinforcement and encouragement when performance is on target.
• Complete employee attendance and payroll requirements.
• Prepare and administer daily performance feedback and reporting as required.

• Ability to interact professionally with customers, addressing inquiries and concerns through both written and verbal communication.
• Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Skilled in conflict resolution and decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to adapt to changing demands and business needs.

Required Experience:

• 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a materials/distribution environment is preferred
• Trained in lean production techniques a plus
• Previous experience working in a high-volume distribution, manufacturing, technical service (i.e. testing and repair) or forward logistics operation a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED). College Degree a plus
• Strong time management and prioritization skills, capable of managing a workforce of 18 employees effectively.
• Ability to operate a pallet jack and lift heavy items, with outside work up to 20% of the time.
• Ability to train and mentor employees on processes, safety, and compliance.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and ensuring team compliance with workplace safety standards.
• Willingness to become PIT certified will also be exponentially beneficial.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to use a pallet jack.
• Ability to work outdoors up to 20% of the time.

Work Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, First Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
