Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Greets patients in person and answers the telephone according to CommuniHealth Services’ standards and transfers calls accordingly.
2. Responsible for keeping the reception and patient waiting area clean and organized.
3. Checks to ensure each student scheduled at the SBHC has a signed consent on file before being seen.
4. Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and insurance information.
5. Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patients’ arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff.
6. Scans and indexes medical record documents into the Electronic Medical Record System.
7. Maintains patient confidentiality according to HIPAA laws and CHS policies and procedures as well as compliance with HRSA regulations.
8. Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipation inventory needs, placing orders, and monitoring office equipment.
9. Protects patient confidentiality, making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.
10. Assist all uninsured students with LA Chip applications.
11. Assist medical staff with medical emergencies as appropriate.
12. Completes required CHS training per policy, maintains compliance with and knowledge of all CHS departmental, facility specific and system-wide policy and procedure, attends mandatory departmental meetings and/or training, and follows CHS Mission, Vision and Values in delivery of all services.
13. In addition to the outlined duties above, as a patient-centered medical home, the incumbent fulfils the principles and theories outlined in organizational policies including assisting navigating patients as needed through the health system, making appropriate referrals to case/care management, communicating with the healthcare team to address patient/family/caregiver specific needs, etc.
14. Participates in all appropriate meetings within the organization.
15. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Skills/Experience:
1. Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
2. Clerical office experience preferred.
3. Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
4. Must maintain a professional personal presentation.
5. Must possess excellent customer service skills.
6. Ability to use discretion while working with sensitive information.
7. Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
8. Must be reliable and trustworthy.
