The Overdose Awareness Trainer is a full-time position and will be responsible for delivering comprehensive training sessions on opioid overdose awareness and reversal, with a focus on the proper use of naloxone, a life-saving medication. The trainer will educate a wide range of audiences, including healthcare professionals, first responders, community organizations, people who use drugs, and the general public. Key responsibilities include developing training materials, coordinating and delivering sessions, administering pre- and post-tests to assess participants’ knowledge, and distributing naloxone. The trainer will also ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices, tailor content for diverse groups, and collaborate with community stakeholders to promote training sessions. Additionally, the trainer will assist with data collection, reporting, and outreach activities.

Qualifications include strong knowledge of opioid use, overdose prevention, and naloxone administration, along with experience in training, education, or public speaking. Preferred experience in harm reduction, public health, peer recovery support, or related fields is highly desirable. A Texas Driver’s License is required, with additional certifications in CPR, First Aid, or peer recovery support preferred.

The position requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to adapt content for diverse groups, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and presentation software. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required, along with regular travel within Central Texas. Ongoing supervision, training, and professional development are provided.
